Bencao Gangmu
Bencao Gangmu, also known as the Compendium of Materia Medica, stands as the most extensive and thorough medical text in the annals of traditional Chinese medicine. Compiled and written by Li Shizhen during the Ming Dynasty, spanning 27 years, this compendium lists, analyzes, and describes all plants, animals, minerals, and objects believed to possess medicinal properties. It epitomizes the pharmaceutical advancements of East Asia before the 16th century.

Warmroot (Mugwort)
The "Bencao Gangmu" records: Mugwort leaves, used in medicine, have a warm nature, bitter taste, non-toxic, and possess pure yang properties, harmonizing the twelve meridians. They have effects like warming yang, regulating qi and blood, dispelling dampness and cold, stopping bleeding, and calming the fetus. They are also commonly used in acupuncture, hence known as the "doctor's herb."
